My Teachers Make Me Blog

I am currently taking a "Technology for Teachers" course. It's actually pretty cool, because I get to learn about cool new programs that I didn't know about before. And it's online and only one credit, so that's a bonus. This week we are learning about using blogs in school, so I am actually required to post something. Kind of sad when the only reason I blog is because I get 20 points for it. Maybe someday I will get around to posting something interesting.  In the meantime, here is our favorite YouTube video.

P.S. We moved! (Thanks a billion to Mom & Dad Field, Andy, and William for all their help!) If you want to send us mail and need our new address, send me a text or an email.

This Girl's Going Places

I just saw this video for the first time today on my cousin Alisa's Facebook page. It's not very often I wish I could sing as well as a 5-year-old...

I think I like this version better than the original!

Words of Wisdom

I had a great conversation with my mom today. It went something like this:

Mom: Girls are just mean. There's no way around it.
Me: Sometimes I wish I was a boy.
Mom: Then you would be dumb and insensitive.
Me: So mean and catty or dumb and insensitive are my only options?
Mom: Yep.

It's sad because it's true. I have to leave for class in a few minutes, so naturally instead of working on homework I'm listening to music. Here is my song of the day: (I don't know why it is so huge...)

Low Rising by The Swell Season
I wanna sit you down and talk
I wanna pull back the veils

And find out what it is I've done wrong
I wanna tear these curtains down
I want you to meet me somewhere
Tonight in this old tourist town
And we´ll go

Low rising

´Cause we´ve gotta come up

We´ve gotta come up

Low rising
´Cause I fear we´ve had enough
Low rising
´Cause there´s no further for us to fall
Low rising
Oh for the love of you

I wanna take you to the rock
I wanna jump right in
And see what that big ocean's got
I wanna turn this thing around
I wanna drink with you
All night till we both fall down
Till we go

Low rising
´Cause we´ve gotta come up
We´ve gotta come up
Low rising
´Cause there´s no further for us to fall
Low rising
And I fear we´ve had enough
Low rising
Oh for the love of you

Low rising
´Cause we´ve gotta come up
We´ve gotta come up
Low rising
And I fear we´ve had enough
Low rising
´Cause there´s no further for us to fall
Low Rising
Oh for the love of you

For the love of you
Low rising low rising
I wanna sit you down and talk
I wanna sit you down and talk about it now

I have a secret love for The Swell Season. You should check them out.

Here's another gem, shown to me by a good friend who doesn't realize just how great he is:

And...I still think "dumb and insensitive" is better than being a girl. Just sayin.

Ode to Facial Hair

Today, I saw a whole group of young men sporting very stylish mustaches. I smiled and thought to myself, "The world could always use a little more stache..." but then I was suddenly sad to realize that Movember/Noshember/Novembeard/No-Shave November is coming to a close. I will miss all the glorious beards, mustaches, and assorted facial hair patterns that have been so diligently groomed by classy men all over. So, in honor of the commencement of a glorious month dedicated to the growing of hair on one's face, I give you the one and only (AND the original)...

Beard Song.

(Rocky and Balls also came out with a song about mustaches specifically for the month of November. I don't love it as much as The Beard Song, but if you want to check it out, click here.)

Boys Will Be Girls and Girls Will Be Boys

No explanation needed. Just watch and enjoy.

So true. And so hilarious.

These Girls Are Hilarious.

Seriously. I wish I was as funny as them. And as talented.

...And this is what happens on a boring Monday night when Hilary's husband is out of town. Don't we make such a great team? There will most likely be more where this came from... Dun dun dun!

This is For My Sister...

...Because we both have a weird obsession with duck jokes. And because I don't want to do my homework. Boo finals!

Obnoxious? Yeah. I know.

This is fantastic.

"Well, Perhaps!"

This is the best cartoon love song ever written. I'm quite fond of it. One day when I'm famous, I'm going to re-recored this song and it'll be a huge hit.

YouTube Debut

Last Sunday was my good friend Emily's birthday. Being poor college students and not being able to afford to get her anything for her birthday, Phebe and I decided that we should write her a song. So we did. I wrote the lyrics and Patrick helped us put it to music. Pretty sure it was the best reaction to any gift I've ever given. Emily loved it! It was way ridiculous and seemingly random, but it was perfect for Emily. You probably won't think it's funny if you don't know her, but it is actually quite genious. Enjoy!

Stalker

I love my roommate. This is a wonderful song that she introduced me to. It's called "Stalker" by Goldfinger. Read the lyrics and listen to the song. It's wonderful. Probably because I love stalking people. It kind of defines my life.

She calls me on the phone
Hoping that I’m home
(And that I’m all alone)
But when I say hello
I only hear dial tones
(She thinks that I’m her own)
Outside my window she crept
Watching my every step
ooh ooh ooh
She’s following me
ooh ooh ooh
She’s out of her tree
ooh ooh ooh
She’s off of her rocker
I wanna marry my stalker
Sometimes she says she’s my mom
Looks like she doesn’t belong
(She’s my own peeping tom)
Flowers everyday
The cops they tell her to stay
500 feet away
She sleeps on my door step
She hasn’t heard me yet
ooh ooh ooh
She’s following me
ooh ooh ooh
She’s out of her tree
ooh ooh ooh
She’s off of her rocker
I wanna marry my
I wanna marry my
I wanna marry my stalker
This morning she wasn’t there
I hope she still cares
I almost gave up hope
but today I awoke
To a private note
She said she’s going to jail
For going through my mail
But she'll stay on my trail
ooh ooh ooh
She’s following me
ooh ooh ooh
She’s out of her tree
ooh ooh ooh
She’s off of her rocker
I wanna marry my stalker
